This program is the first step for budding ballet dancers. Students focus on correct posture and body awareness, as well as musicality, rhythm, and movement. It serves as an introduction to ballet placement and more structured movement while emphasizing imagination and creativity. Musical instruments and other accessories are used to stimulate creativity and group games.

As the learning continues, teachers will continue the training of basic posture and the relaxation, stretching and flexible movement of each body part. Cultivate the rhythm awareness of music and start to complete a simple dance combination independently.

RAD Program

Age: 5 - 16yo

Class: 2 classes/week (1-1.5hr/class)

Levels: Pre-Primary in Dance (5-6yo); Primary in Dance; Grade 1; Grade 2; Grade 3; Grade 4; Grade 5; Intermediate Foundation

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Examinations are a series of classical ballet examinations developed by the Royal Academy of Dance, with 250,000 candidates taking them each year. The RAD's teaching philosophy is to develop children's coordination, musicality, and sense of community from the age of five, and to change them implicitly, with all dance music performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Grade 1 to Grade 8 are interconnected. Children can learn simple movements with the sense of achievement, and continue to challenge with higher difficulty at a higher level, the best solution to the "boring" and repetitive training for ballet beginners.

Due to the high credibility of the RAD's exams, advanced levels can also be used for the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) tariff.

Unlike other skills exams, students must be recommended by a RAD Registered Teacher to take the exam. After Ms. Chloey has been certified as RAD Registered Teacher, CY Ballet can recommend our students to participate in the exams.

CY Elite Program

Age: 7-10yo

Class: 4 classes/week (1.5-2hrs/class)

Level: Junior

The CY Elite Program is an offer based, pre-professional ballet training program.

The program uses the vaganova method of training. Students participating in this program will have 6-8 hours of training per week (4 classes per week, 1.5-2 hours per class). Mr. Sheng is in charge of this program.

This program is designed to provide students who love dancing additional options in the future. CY hopes that this program will expose students to bigger stages, including the opportunity to get offers from professional dance schools that are ranked relatively high all over the world.

"I hope that the decision to participate in this program is a tripartite one: teachers, parents and the student. The student's attitude, the parents' cooperation and the teachers' guidance are all indispensable in this high demand program.

The ballet training is a long-term professional training. In the early stages, ballet classes will not be fun nor showing a steep learning curve. I hope all parents and I will work together to help students to overcome the potential discouragement during these early stages."

Chinese Folk Dance

Age: 7 - 10yo

Class: 1class/week (1hr/class)

Levels: Beginner

One of the main features of Chinese folk dances is the close combination of dancing and singing. This form of singing and dancing is free, vivid and lively, and can easily express more life content than pure dance, and it is easy to understand. Many Chinese folk dances use props cleverly, such as fans, handkerchiefs, long silks, tambourines, single drums, flower sticks, lanterns, flower umbrellas, etc. This greatly strengthens the artistic expression of the dance, making the dance movements rich and colorful.

Improvisation is the result of emotion. Although the folk dances of various regions in China have certain formats and norms, they also have the tradition of improvisation. At their most emotionally charged moments, it is often the time when a dance can emerge with souls.

Classroom Dress Code

Ballet is a rigorous and elegant performing art, and classroom etiquette is also very particular. In addition to the regular salute ceremony before and after class, the standard ballet dress code is also a respect for teachers and classes. Our school will order custom made class uniforms from the renowned dancewear brand Sansha Dance. One set of class uniforms will include leotard, canvas split sole ballet slippers, and footed dance tights (tights are from another brand). All leotards for students of Grade I and above will be double layered.
